Asturias (Leyenda), named simply Prelude by its composer, [1] is a musical work by the Spanish composer and pianist Isaac Albéniz (1860-1909). The opening is shown here in piano score. The repeated D is an example of the use of a pedal note.
First performed on 16 October 2016 at the National Opera of Bucharest. First performed by the Ballet Nacional de España on 15 April 2021 at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.
The piece, which lasts around six minutes in performance, was originally written for the piano and set in the key of G minor. It was first published in Barcelona, by Juan Bta. Pujol & Co., in 1892 as the prelude of a three- movement set entitled Chants d'Espagne.
