The Sumerians in Mesopotamia were the first known and recorded civilization in history. Around 6000 BCE, the first cities emerged in Ancient Sumer. The Sumerians are also noted for their development of written script , the cuneiform. These written sources could only be appreciated when combined with an understanding of the Sumerian civilization.
The earliest known use of the adjective obtrusive is in the mid 1600s. OED's earliest evidence for obtrusive is from 1652, in the writing of Thomas Urquhart, author and translator. obtrusive is a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element.
