Permits are either administered through one of our regional offices or by an individual park office. The application and authorization process will vary by location. Activities that typically require a permit include - but are not limited to - film/photography shoots, drone flights, metal detecting, and event catering.

Camping reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance. Sites become available at the 9-month window at the following times: March 15 - Labor Day: 8AM Monday - Friday, 9AM Saturday & Sunday. Day after Labor Day - March 14: 9AM Monday - Friday, 9AM Saturday & Sunday.
Through the New York State Camping Reservation System, you may reserve sites which will guarantee accommodations at any state camping area. Online reservations can be made at newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com and phone reservations can be made by calling 1-800-456-2267 (TDD:1-800-304-1265).
In general, Peak season runs from the fourth Friday in June to the last Sunday before Labor Day weekend. Reservations during this time are subject to a 7-night minimum stay for campsites. All other times are considered non-peak season and may require a 2 or 3-night stay.
