The University of Toronto Map and Data Library staff have been involved in a number of Historical GIS (spatial history) project since the late 2000s. These projects have helped uncover several interesting facets of Canada's largest city's urban history.
The Archives has over 1.25 million photographs and over 10,000 maps and plans in its collection. Many of these have been digitized and made available to view online.
We offer online access to most of the Toronto city directories in our collections from 1833 to 2001. The links below go to pages where you can download or view the directories — either on our Digital Archive or the Internet Archive, an organization which helped digitize these items held at the library.
