Kona Side. Kona is very dry and rugged terrain. It is the focus for tourists to the Big Island of Hawaii for a few reasons. One being that the rain is not as abundant as it is in Hilo. Kona gets around 25 inches of rain per year on average. Kona’s beaches and bays are ultra beautiful and are relatively easy to access.
