Milford Haven is reputedly the finest natural deep-water harbour in the country. The town of Milford Haven is still a busy fishing port, and is an important centre for oil and gas processing. The men of Milford who fell during both World Wars are commemorated on the Milford Haven War Memorial, which is located at Hamilton Terrace.
The cemetery, owned by Milford Haven Urban District Council, is on high ground a mile South-West of the town. It was opened in 1880 and contains war graves of both world wars. Herbert was born on 23 October 1871, the son of George and Louisa Greenacre, of Martham, Norfolk. He served as Trimmer aboard HM Trawler Weymouth II.
