Aug 10, 2023 · Outdoor-rated Antenna: Use an outdoor-rated antenna even if it’s placed in the attic. Outdoor antennas are designed to withstand environmental factors better, ensuring better performance and longevity. Grounding: As with rooftop installations, grounding the attic-mounted antenna is essential for safety reasons. 3. Wall Mounting
There are many acceptable locations where an antenna can be mounted such as on your roof, in your attic, on a wall, on the eave of your house and even on the ground. Having a clear line of sight is the most important consideration but carefully aiming (orienting) the antenna, and adjusting its height often can overcome the problems created by ...
Oct 30, 2023 · Antennas receive better signals when placed higher since they have a clearer line of sight to transmit towers without obstructions. If installing on the roof, mount it at the highest point you can safely access. An antenna placed 20-30 feet above ground level can make a big difference compared to one only 10 feet high. Check for Obstacles
Jul 11, 2018 · No Comments. With walls and a lot of clutter inside the house, you would be better served to place the antenna outside of the house. By some calculations your gain in placing the antenna outside the house can be up to 20 dB. Have a look at this antenna explaining why an antenna that is mounted outside the building works better:
OK, OK. We'll just answer the question: You almost always want to have your antenna outside of your home, and as high as possible. That's it. Higher is better. Outside-um-er, is better. The reason, of course, is interference. That's the name of the game when it comes to radio signals of all sorts. (Frequency is another thing for another time.)
Antenna Placement. Outside antennas should be placed as high up as possible, in the area receiving the best possible signal (see our site survey guide to help you figure out where that is in your building). A yagi directional antenna will need to be pointed in the direction of the nearest cell tower.

Feb 27, 2024 · 1) Existing Mast or Pole Mounting. When mounting outdoor antennas, using an existing mast on the roof is the most popular method. If a mast is not available, a pole mount gets the job done. Both options are ideal for directional antennas and especially for omnidirectional antennas. The elevation helps optimize the antenna's performance.
