Jan 16, 2023 · Here are my top picks for the best hikes around Vancouver to help you find your next great hike. Hollyburn Peak: Easily one of the most rewarding hikes in terms of Vancouver views and very doable in half a day; only 4 miles long and a 30-minute drive from downtown.
- Lynn Loop in Lynn Canyon. Distance: Varies depending on the trail and route you take. Elevation gain: 100 meters (328 feet) Difficulty: Easy. Time needed: 2 hours.
- Quarry Rock Hike from Deep Cove. Distance: 3.8 km round trip (2.36 mi) Elevation gain: 100 meters (328 feet) Difficulty: Easy. Time needed: 1.5 hours. Type of trail: Out and back.
- The Grouse Grind. Distance: 3 km one way (1.86 mi) Elevation gain: 850 meters (2,789 feet) Difficulty: Difficult. Time needed: 1.5-2 hours. Type of trail: Hike up, gondola down!
- Capilano Suspension Bridge Walk. Distance: 2.6 km (1.6 mi) round trip. Elevation gain: 100 meters (328 feet) Difficulty: Easy. Time needed: 1 hour, plus longer to hang out in the park.
- Al’s Habrich Ridge. This Vancouver area hike is one of my favourites since it’s a bit of a hidden gem. You have to take the Sea to Sky gondola to get to the trailhead, so the trail is never busy.
- Heather Trail to Three Brothers. This alpine trail in Manning park is a bit of a drive from Vancouver, but it’s well worth it, especially when the wildflowers are blooming.
- High Note Trail. This trail has one of the best effort to reward ratios amongst hikes near Vancouver: the trail is never too steep or too technical and there are spectacular views the entire time.
- Mount Seymour. Mount Seymour is my favourite hike on Vancouver’s North Shore. The trail to the summit starts out alongside the gravel ski runs before climbing up a rooty and rocky trail.
Feb 2, 2023 · Vancouver is surrounded by incredible hiking opportunities, particularly on the North Shore and Sea to Sky Corridor. Some popular hiking destinations include the Grouse Grind, Lynn Canyon Park, and Garibaldi Provincial Park.
- St. Mark’s Summit. Cypress Provincial Park. Length: 11 km round-trip. Duration: 4-5 hours. Elevation gain: 460 m. Difficulty: Moderate. On clear days, the summit of this hike offers unparalleled views of Howe Sound.
- Eagle Bluffs. Cypress Provincial Park. Length: 8 km round-trip. Duration: 3-4 hours. Elevation gain: 350 m. Difficulty: Moderate. This trail begins with a gruelling ascent to Cabin Lake, which you can jump in to cool off.
- Stanley Park Inner Loop. Downtown Vancouver. Length: 8 km roundtrip. Duration: 2 hours. Elevation gain: approx. 100 m. Difficulty: Easy. Looking to get into nature without wandering far from the city?
- Dog Mountain. Seymour Provincial Park. Length: 5 km round-trip. Duration: 1.5 – 2 hours. Elevation gain: 34 m. Difficulty: Easy. Although it’s a glorious sight any time of day, in our opinion, the sparkling city is most striking at sunrise, sunset or even during a moonlit night.
