Nov 17, 2018 · With 20 Mio. passengers in 2022, Nashville Airport is the biggest airport in the state of Tennessee and even the 25th biggest in the USA. It is a major hub for Southwest Airlines, and a focus city for Allegiant Air. There is a single intercontinental service to London Heathrow opb British Airways.
Southwest accounts for roughly half of the passengers through BNA, giving you lots of B737. Other airlines (American, Delta, United) bring in their smaller mainline equipment or have their respective regionals operate the flights (all jets). Frontier, Allegiant, Alaska, and Spirit are other carriers that can be seen flying various metal.

Click the map to go to Google Maps satellite view of this airport. The Nashville airport has an official observation area located next to the cargo terminals on the west side of the field, at the end of Vultee Blvd. Its easily accessible, safe, and free but Nashville doesn’t get that much traffic.
The best spot for watching commercial aircraft take off and land is at Monell's at the Manor. They are right next to the runway and you can watch from the patio.

For smaller airports you can listen to CTAF and for BNA you can listen to the tower. The METAR displayed will help you determine which runway (s) are active, since planes land and takeoff into the wind. Flightradar24.com has some of the same functionality as FlightAware but I use it as well.
