   Damn, I've never shopped around for replacements considering my originals are going strong still. If you want something reliable that fits well in the hand, I'd actually go for a Sega Genesis controller. You can get a refurbished original 2600 joystick from Best Electronics and it will last you forever.

   • Anything that is wired the same as the original 2600 sticks should work just fine. Are you looking for standard second controllers or special controllers? Like John Stamos Mullet said, standard joysticks that are 2600 compatible work. I personally tested 3 standard joysticks from Atari Flashback consoles, they all work.

   • Sega Genesis ones are the most common to find, and they work just fine with Atari 2600 controllers. I actually got myself 2 of them to daisy chain together because even with one extension, the cable wasn’t quite long enough to sit comfortably on my couch. Do Sega Genesis controllers work? The short answer is no, at least not out of the box.

   • The Hyperkin “Trooper” is my favorite Atari 2600 joystick. It looks like the original but is easier on the hands and has a great build quality. The Trooper seems to get a lot of hate but I really like it too. Really doesnt feel much different to me from an original other than the shape is easier to hold. I've never had one break either.
