- Space Invaders. One of the first shooting games ever, Space Invaders' lines of lurking aliens appeared in arcades before it became the first arcade game officially licensed for a console.
- Kaboom! Activision's Kaboom! (1981) became another million seller. The game starred a mad bomber who dropped bombs, which the player caught with three buckets at the bottom of the screen.
- Combat. Combat (1976) was one of the first Atari games. It contained 27 games in one, each representing different forms of combat, but all using tanks, jets, or biplanes as vehicles with weapons capability.
- Demon Attack. Imagic—a company that started with an "I" before starting with an "I" was cool—released Demon Attack (1982) for several consoles and computers, including Commodores, TRS-80, and of course, Atari 2600.
Jun 15, 2021 · Yes, very. My #1 biggest hope right now for A8 gaming is that someone will take a disassembly of it, decipher it like what happened with the original Star Raiders, and finish the game AI. It's so close to being an 8-bit 'desert island' game. It's also a tour de force of 8-bit graphics too.
Jan 24, 2011 · Or ones you never had but always wanted as a kid. I'm strictly talking graphics this time. Ones that that really showed of the 2600 full and best capabilities of the time. - Asteroids. Asteroids (1979) was another port from an arcade game. It didn't quite look like the original, as you shot at big, solid blobs of asteroids with the nipple-shaped ship that jetted around the screen, moving off one side and returning on the other.
- Dungeon Master. Released: 1987. Publisher: Mirrorsoft. Developer: FTL. It’s an understatement to say that Dungeon Master revolutionised the computer role playing game genre when it was released in 1987.
- Stunt Car Racer. Released: 1989. Publisher: Micro Style. Developer: Microprose. I waxed lyrical about the paranormal abilities of Geoff Crammond last episode in the F1 Grand Prix section, so excuse me if I save myself the embarrassment of gushing about his brilliance all over again, and instead get on with describing this unique racing experience.
- Xenon 2. Released: 1989. Publisher: Image Works. Developer: Assembly Line. Our second Bitmap Brothers game in a row! But this one wasn’t coded by them, instead being farmed out to the excellently talented Assembly Line.
- Speedball 2. Released: 1990. Publisher: Image Works. Developer: Bitmap Brothers. The Bitmap Brother’s sheen is present and correct in this sequel, the presentation is superb throughout.
