There are eight playable maps in Escape from Tarkov. They go from small abandoned factories to big open areas that can leave you wondering where exactly are you. Getting to know these maps and all their locations will be essential for your success in the Raids you play. For example, you need to learn their extraction points in order to be able to escape — you'll lose all your equipment otherwise.

When you join a Raid on any level, you'll have a limited time to do any of the objectives you want to achieve. Before this time runs out, you need to survive and escape using a specific spot in order to survive the Raid and get back to your base.
Those specific spots are called extraction points. You'll get a few options when starting a Raid (check them by pressing O twice), and you'll have to choose one to use. However, there are different types of extraction points: some are always available, but others might require you to pay some Roubles, escape with other players, and perform certain actions like restoring the power of a certain room, among others.
Learning how to play Escape from Tarkov can be difficult for a myriad of reasons, but one of them is knowing where are you standing and where you need to go. You don't have a radar, a mini-map, or anything that tells you exactly where you are like in most shooters. Plus, the maps in this game are pretty different from each other and they present unique features.
To overcome this, you need to start observing any point of interest around you: a particular building, a big rock or mountain, the gas station in front of you, etc. By memorizing these spots, you'll start tracing a mental map that will be updated with every Raid you play. Going to the borders of the map will give you some direction and point of reference while also letting you avoid most enemies.
When you go to the map selection screen, you'll notice that there are three maps with the legend "Not Available." They are Streets of Tarkov, Suburbs, and Terminal, and they are areas being developed at the moment, with no clear date of release.
