- Argentina. Argentina's nickname is the same for both its men's and women's football teams: La Albiceleste means "The white and sky blues" in Spanish, corresponding with the famous striped kits that the sides wear on the international stage.
- Australia. The Matildas nickname was chosen in 1994 in a contest ahead of their first ever World Cup, the name is thought to have derived from the famous folk song 'Waltzing Matilda', however a recent investigation by The Sydney Morning Herald revealed the name came from the large kangaroo seen at the 1982 Commonwealth games in Brisbane, which was called Matilda.
- Brazil. The Brazilian women's team has multiple nicknames: one is O Selecao, meaning the national squad, and is shared with the men's side; another unique to the women's side is As Canarinhas, meaning "Yellow canaries" referring to the colour of the Brazilian shirts.
- Canada. Canada is one of the only women's teams in the world that does not have an official nickname, though they sometimes may be referred to as The Maple Leafs due to the emblem appearing on the Canadian flag.
