Talents wise you can't go wrong with a triple damage double resist pet for PVE. Ice class pet then enchanted armament then anything that gives an ice blade. I like the shiverous knight because it gives 2 ice blades (stackable with regular blades). Gives one at baby and one at ancient iirc.
Most people tend to opt for a triple-double (three damage & two resist talents -- so, ice-dealer, pain-giver, spell-proof & -defy, and mighty, with an ice-giver jewel). I'd recommend using the hatchmaking kiosk search feature to search for a pet with mighty & ice-dealer, then go from there :)
The Phoenix pet is the best one out of those three you listed, and overall it's a decent pet. The Grand Phoenix card will definitely get outclassed as you level up (like most pet cards do), but for your level it's still a fairly strong single hit with a good accuracy debuff on top of it.

Pets can be obtained in various ways throughout wizard101, you can purchase them for both crowns and gold, you can win them from events (example deckathalon), you can redeem them from bundles/gift cards, you can obtain them from boss drops, quest rewards and from packs. Some pets give cards, whereas some do not. You would ideally want to choose a pet based on the cards that it gives. Some give cards at baby only and some give more cards the further you train it. Apr 10, 2010 · Right now, my best pet is my Ice Wyvern (level 58 pet). It gives me 5% power pip boost, 6% or 8% damage boost (I forgot which one), 108 health boost, and 'spritely'. I also have Ice Colossus, but his talents aren't good.
