We still urge visitors to stick to the south side, North Shore, and just a few areas above the burn area (Kapalua, Ka’anapali, Napili, Kahana.) These West Maui area businesses still need support, but it’s crucial visitors be respectful, reverent, and helpful.

Sep 29, 2024 · Maui Travel Update: September 30th, 2024. Maui continues to be open to visitors while Lahaina starts to receive permits for home and business construction. West Maui opened to visitors in November 2023 to prevent a collapse of the local economy and because the fire did not destroy Ka’anapali and other areas outside of Lahaina Town.
