Oct 22, 2020 · Introduction. This guide provides overviews of the military aspects of each faction in the game. It looks at research progression, recruitment model and the rosters of a faction and how that affects the way a campaign may play out. This information is applicable to the Grand Campaign, Imperator Augustus, Hannibal at the Gates and Caesar in Gaul.

- Boii - Galatia - Nervii These factions are included in the Caesar in Gaul Campaign Pack, but are playable in the Grand Campaign Game.
- Arevaci - Lusitani - Syracuse These factions are included in the Hannibal at the Gates Campaign Pack, but are playable in the Grand Campaign Game.
- Sparta - Athenai - Boiotian League - Korinthos These factions are available only in the Wrath Of Sparta Campaign Pack. The Factions Sparta and Athens in the Grand Campaign (part of the Greek States Culture Pack) remain the same.

- Rome. Naturally, Rome is the best civilization in the game. How could I rank anything else? Many would argue that Rome is the “tutorial” civ in this Total War.
- Baktria. With powerful units and a very strong economy from the start of the campaign, I’d argue that Baktria is the best successor kingdom out of them all.
- Egypt. Now Egypt is certainly the strongest nation in Africa. And one that serves as a challenging faction to use if you’re looking to conquer the entire map.
- Athens. Athens is the best Hellenistic faction to play with – provided that you’re not too keen on the Sparta challenge. A good economy and good diplomatic relationships accompany a very solid unit roster, and one of the best starting cities in the game alongside Rome.
