Prelude (better known as either Asturias or Leyenda) by Isaac Albéniz (1860–1909), is probably the best-known virtuosic guitar piece not originally written for guitar. Asturias (Leyenda), named simply Prelude by its composer, [1] is a musical work by the Spanish composer and pianist Isaac Albéniz (1860-1909). The opening is shown here in piano score. The repeated D is an example of the use of a pedal note.
Spanish pianist and composer best known for his piano works based on folk music idioms. Many of his pieces such as Asturias (Leyenda), Granada, Sevilla, Cádiz, Córdoba, Cataluña, and the Tango in D are amongst the most important pieces for classical guitar.
