On May 18, 1980 — about five weeks later — Blackburn died in the volcanic blast that obliterated the mountain peak. Those unprocessed black-and-white images spent the next three decades coiled...
By the third week following the blast, 25 people were confirmed dead but 47 were still on the missing list. Luckily, 15 of the missing were later found alive. Only four of the victims were known to be inside the restricted areas set up by federal and local governments.
09/04/2024 - First time visiting Blackburn Park for an afternoon walk. Decent size park that is in between Bryden & Main. The side closer to Main Street is more athletes. There are basketball courts, pickleball courts, and tennis courts. On the Bryden Rd side there are a few paths that form a square, and there is a play area for children.
