Barry B. Benson is an ordinary bee who lives in a hive in Sheep Meadow, Central Park, New York City. He is the main character of the film Bee Movie. He is voiced by Jerry Seinfeld. He can surf, and he wears shoes that resemble converse shoes, and a (black - and yellow) turtleneck sweater.
Early Life
Barry has completed three levels of education during his school career. He spent three days in grade school, three days in high school, and three days in college. This earns him the highest degree of education a bee can achieve. He also took a gap day to travel around the hive by hitchhiking. It is inferred that experience gave Barry a new outlook on the bee world as his closest friend, Adam Flayman remarks, "[Barry] did come back different."
Finding his place in the world
Immediately after his graduation, Barry and Adam were taken on a tour of Honex Industries. After learning his entire life would be spent doing one job and that he was expected to decide quickly which it would be, he wondered if there was more to life than pre-defined and unchanging jobs. After watching Pollen Jocks return with a load of pollen and having some of it fall on them, Barry and Adam walked over to two ladies that had also watched the jocks return. They were spotted by the jocks, who decided to have some fun and teased Barry as he was trying to impress the ladies. That night, his father extoled the virtues of being a honey stirrer, adding further pressure on Barry to decide. The following morning when he and Adam reported to Honex for job selection, Barry snuck onto the flight deck and joined the jocks on their mission. Outside the hive, he marvels at the world around him and the freedom of flight. After their initial run had been completed, their helmet sensors detected what appeared to be yellow daisies. Upon investigating, they found out the yellow objects weren't flowers and that if they touched them, they would get stuck to them. Barry did get stuck on one of them, which was the ball Vanessa Bloome and her boyfriend Ken used while playing tennis. Miraculously, Barry did not get squashed or smashed as the ball was batted around, but a nearly-missed swing by Ken resulted in Barry and the ball being launched off the court and into traffic. He comes close to death several times; the first was being sucked into and through a car's engine, followed by being attacked by humans when he entered the inside of the car. After escaping the attack, Barry only had a short while to recover and to take in the buildings in the environment he now found himself in before the rain that had been forecast began.
Later...
While out one day, Barry comes across honey being sold in the stores, saying that bees were never asked or made aware that their honey was being stolen and sold to the humans. This leads him to sue the human race for years of abuse and theft. Barry ends up winning the lawsuit, which then causes a chain reaction. The bees end up having a large stockpile of honey that they don't know what to do with, resulting in bees being forced to stop production and go on vacation. With no pollen being collected and spread about, all the world's plants start to die. Barry, feeling responsible, sets out to make things right. He and Vanessa plan to get the world's last remaining flowers, the flowers for the Tournament Of Roses, to the Pollen Jocks in order for them to gather pollen to regrow the world's plants. Near the end of the movie, he becomes an attorney for other animals who have been duped out of their products by humans (such as a cow for its milk), and is made a Pollen Jock.

Barry B Benson. When I got asked if I was free for the Critic blind date my immediate thought was that of ‘who I am to deny this woman the greatest gift of all, me?’ So I promptly grabbed my shiniest leather trench coat and my nicest fedora and out the door I went. I arrived an hour early as a gentleman is never late.
