Many years later, when Mary and Kate decided to use the last of their money to travel to London so Edwina could find a man and marry, Kate made a deal with the Sheffield to pay Edwina's dowry, but only if she married someone from English nobility. After Edwina got engaged to Anthony Bridgerton, a viscount, Lady Danbury, who had been hosting the three Sharma woman, invited them to dinner. They were delighted to meet Edwina and asked her about her interests while ignoring Kate's presence. At dinner, they invited Anthony and Edwina to visit their home and said they were planning to stay in London until after the wedding. They also said that they were still upset that Mary rejected the match they had chosen for her and robbed them of their grandchild. Mary corrected that they had two grandchildren and they had ample opportunity to get to know both of them, but instead chose to shun them. Lady Sheffield then mentioned the trust fund and dowry they'd set up for Edwina, which was a shock to Mary and Edwina. Anthony then stepped in and said he wouldn't stand for Kate being insulted and the disrespected the Sheffields were showing to the Sharmas. He told them to leave at once and uninvited them from the wedding.
