- Early beginnings to The Old Republic era (Legends) Our Star Wars chronological reading guide begins with The Old Republic era. The Old Republic era is one of the oldest timelines in the history of the Star Wars universe and is one of the areas that the movies and the series are yet to explore.
- High Republic Era (Canon) Next up on our Chronological Star Wars reading order is the High Republic Era. The High Republic era is part of the Star Wars canon and takes place during the time when the Galactic Republic was at its peak.
- The Republic era. We continue with our Star Wars reading order with The Rise of the Sith and The Clone Wars. These are the books that happened during the Rise of the Sith, which happened before the events of Phantom Menace, and during the Clone Wars, which led to the downfall of the Jedi Order.
- The Reign of the Empire. Next up on our Star Wars chronological reading order is The Reign of the Empire. After the downfall of the Jedi due to Order 66 and right after the Republic was reorganized to the Empire, there was a two-decade period wherein the Emperor was left unchallenged.
