   It’s the newest version pushing. There is no 1.12 for modern minecraft. It’s always the newest update. It’s going to feel worse if the mods are all fractured across versions because the mod devs are always pushing to use the newest version instead of collectively choosing a version and staying there.

   There's a few reasons: Mod devs work on their mods in their free time. They don't get paid so updating a mod is not a priority. Recent IRL events definately isn't helping here. Updating past 1.12 is a huge leap. Minecraft changed a lot from 1.12 to 1.16. This required huge changes on the mod devs side of things.

   • There's a few reasons: Mod devs work on their mods in their free time. They don't get paid so updating a mod is not a priority. Recent IRL events definately isn't helping here.    Why does Mojang have a lack of modding development?

   • Because devs grew up and don't have the time to keep up with Mojang changing every little thing each update, and there's been a lack of modding development since 1.12. I can't think of more than a hand full of new original mods.
