- The Port of Vancouver says a decision made last year not to go ahead with the fireworks display is now permanent. Alex Munro, the port’s senior communications adviser, said “after careful consideration,” the port decided to discontinue the evening fireworks display for July 1 at Canada Place, primarily due to rising costs.
