Jan 10, 2023 · Not closing Excel correctly or shutting down your computer while Excel’s in use can corrupt your workbook. If you can’t scroll a worksheet after restarting Excel or your computer, repair the Excel file and try again. Note: We recommend creating a backup copy of the Excel file before performing a repair. - Frozen panes might prevent you to scroll. Are there frozen panes? E.g. the first row or column? If yes, try to unfreeze them. - Holding down the Shift key disables scrolling. Are you pressing the Shift key? Maybe something is pressing down on the key and you haven’t noticed it?

Symptoms were an Excel spreadsheet, in which scrolling suddenly became disabled on the document and reopening it would not solve the problem. I eventually went through the freeze pane option and disabled freeze entirely.
- Check If You Can Scroll Elsewhere. Firstly, you must check if the scroll problem occurs in the Excel app only or if is it a system-wide issue. Minimize Microsoft Excel and open File Explorer or a web browser.
