This article covers a number of fixes for when Facebook Messenger can’t send a message properly both on the Facebook website and on the official Facebook Messenger app. These solutions can be used when a message is stuck on send, when Facebook Messenger appears offline, and when a DM has been sent but doesn’t seem to have been delivered properly.
Facebook Messenger not sending messages properly can be the result of a number of factors.
•The Facebook Messenger service experiencing issues or being offline
•Restrictions placed on an account by a contact or Facebook support
•Internet connectivity issues
Here’s all of the best solutions for fixing Facebook Messenger when it won’t send a message.
1.Check if Facebook Messenger’s down. It’s possible that the entire Facebook service, or aspects relating to Facebook Messenger, could be offline or experiencing errors.
2.Make sure you're using the official Messenger app. Some other messaging app or the main Facebook app may not behave the same way the actual Messenger app does.
3.Check your internet connection. The easiest way to do this is to open a website other than Facebook in a web browser or check an app that requires an internet connection.
4.Switch to a cellular connection. Your Wi-Fi internet may be having connection issues so turn it off and try sending a Facebook message while on your 4G or 5G network.
5.Switch to a Wi-Fi internet connection. Your cellular network provider could be down or congested. Turn your mobile connectivity off on your iPhone or Android smartphone and try using Facebook Messenger again to send a message.

Also there's a new feature where you can't send messages to someone anymore. I think I'm shadowbanned from it. I tested it on my other account and it gave me an option to send a message but on my main account I wasn't able to contact that person unless I follow them and they accept my request.
- Disable Data Saver Mode. If you’re using Facebook Messenger on an Android phone, you can check if Data Saver mode is enabled. This feature allows you to limit the amount of data an app uses.
- Force Stop Messenger And Relaunch. If the Messenger app isn’t working as intended on your phone, you should try force-stopping it first. This resets the app, thereby closing any potential problems along the way.
- Update Messenger App. Meta frequently updates its Messenger app with new features and bug fixes. If your Messenger chats repeatedly fail to deliver, ensure you are running the app’s latest build available on the App Store or Play Store.
- Check Your Connection. The recommended speeds for Facebook Messenger are 3mbps download and 1mbps upload speed. Both aren’t high, but anything lower can drastically affect your Messenger experience.
A message or something you shared goes against our Community Standards. You recently sent an unusual number of messages, which may seem like spam to our security system. Messages you sent were marked as unwelcome. You blocked the person you're messaging or they blocked you.
Messenger can't send or receive messages until you connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi network. Open Settings on your iPhone and scroll to Messenger . Turn on the Mobile Data toggle.
