Fireheart emerges from the warriors' den. He spots Sandstorm across the clearing, and makes his way towards her. He has spoken to several warriors about joining the patrol to Snakerocks, but hasn't yet spoken to Sandstorm. First mentioned on Firestar's page, Sandstorm is said to be the cat that Firestar, then Fireheart, grew close to after the death of Spottedleaf during a ShadowClan attack on ThunderClan's camp. Soon after he became Firestar, leader of ThunderClan, Sandstorm gave birth to Leafkit and Squirrelkit, their daughters.
Spottedleaf was a ThunderClan medicine cat, who was still alive when Rusty (later Firestar) joined the clan. Rusty immediately began to develop a crush on Spottedleaf, even though she was a medicine cat. In a battle with ShadowClan (which was in the ThunderClan camp) Spottedleaf was killed by Clawface, a ShadowClan warrior.
