It seems Jesus wanted to interact with the man on a personal level rather than heal the man in an impersonal or showy way (Mark 7:33–35). Again, similar to how Jesus healed the deaf man, Jesus used His saliva as part of His healing of the blind man. Jesus applied the saliva ...

Feb 5, 2020 · The early church father Papias affirmed that Mark carefully wrote down the apostolic preaching of Peter. We read of a two-step healing because Jesus, historically, in space and time, healed the man in two stages. Looking back to the actual historical event, though, why did Jesus heal in this way?
Mark records the partial healing of the blind man to illustrate Jesus healing of his disciples partial understanding. Though the disciples see that Jesus is the Christ, they see this only in part. Jesus is the Christ but not at all the Christ of their expectations. (Please see this video for a visual breakdown of this answer.)

Jan 4, 2022 · Near Decapolis, some people brought Jesus a deaf man who could hardly talk. Jesus healed the man, of course, but in an interesting manner: “Jesus put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then he spit and touched the man’s tongue” (Mark 7:33). Later, in the town of Bethsaida, Jesus healed a blind man.
There is an account of Jesus healing a blind man by spitting on his eyes and then laying His hands on the man. Scripture records that this was a two-step process. The man was healed of his blindness. The gospels also records Jesus making clay out of saliva and then putting it on the eyes of a blind man. When He did this, the man was healed.

Spit on his eyes - Why this was done is not known. It was evidently not intended to perform the cure by any natural effect of the spittle. It was to the man a "sign," an evidence that it was the power of Jesus. The eyes were probably closed. They were perhaps "gummed" or united together by a secretion that had become hard.
