The event (or events – see discussion below) is reported in Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 7, and John 12. [2] Matthew and Mark are very similar: Matthew 26:6–13. Feb 2, 2017 · Jesus of Nazareth was not anointed with the anointing oil which was typically used for the priests of the Levitical priesthood. 1 Rather, he was anointed with the Holy Spirit, “the oil of gladness.” In Psa. 45:6–7, it is written, 6 O’ God, Your throne is forever and ever; the scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of righteousness.
Jul 26, 2023 · There is also a sense in which Christians today are anointed. Through Jesus Christ, believers receive “an anointing from the Holy One” (1 John 2:20). This anointing is not expressed in an outward ceremony but through sharing in the gift of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:11).

Matthew Mark and John speak of one woman and 2 and 6 days 2 occurences possibly. Luke may or may not speak of the same woman but likely it is a different woman and possibly the woman who was caught in adultery who was forgiven much.
Feb 26, 2017 · Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

Nov 12, 2014 · Since the dead were anointed with spices and oils (including myrrh), the woman’s action foreshadows the women who visit Jesus’ tomb in Mark 16:1 to anoint his body. In Mark and Matthew, a disciple objects to the woman’s display of generosity saying the perfume could have been sold and the money given to the poor.
