Milwaukee County Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Opened in 1953, it was primarily a baseball park for Major League Baseball's Milwaukee Braves and later the Milwaukee Brewers. Home to the Milwaukee Braves (1953-1965) and Milwaukee Brewers (1970-2000), the stadium hosted three World Series (1957, 1958, and 1982) and was the site of Henry Aaron’s final home run in 1976. County Stadium served as an alternate home field for the Green Bay Packers (1953-1994) and hosted major rock concerts , including the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and Paul McCartney. [2]
In the early 1990s, County Stadium was considered outdated. So, in 1992, Selig announced plans to have a new publicly funded stadium in place for the 1994 season. As with all construction projects, this was delayed and the Brewers played their last season at County Stadium in 1999.
The Boston Braves were renamed the Milwaukee Braves and opening day for the team at County Stadium was on April 14, 1953. County Stadium had a capacity of 28,111 that consisted of a double decked grandstand down the first and third base lines, a lower level of seating that extended to the foul poles and bleachers were in the outfield.
