Nov 30, 2019 · The attack on Paul’s character reflected in Paul’s early letters may have been more painful than the physical pain he faced in Lystra. It appears that some of Paul’s opponents described him as unqualified to preach the gospel (Gal 1) or worse, as a charlatan (1 Thess 2, for example).
He suffered with physical pain from the many beatings and attacks from angry mobs and misguided religious zealots. He suffered emotional pain from depression brought on by loneliness and being betrayed by close friends.

He could be robbed and killed while he was traveling, but nothing could kill him until God finished his purpose for Paul on this earth.
