In the book the Rex picks up the car and throws it into a tree in the paddock. The film didn't have a way to do that, but for whatever reason, they wanted to keep the tree scene. This is just a logic hole in the film and isn't explained with this. The Rex pushes the car through the hole we see it come out from.
