This drill is great for reinforcing a slightly upward swing path. If you swing down on the ball, you’ll hit the second tee in your follow through. I’m not a physics guy but generally when you hit a line drive, the entire barrel of the bat connects with the ball whereas with fly balls, the ball is slightly undercut which leads to more elevation and less exit velo. Reply reply. PichaelTheWise. •.

If they are hitting balls on the ground, ask them to adjust and try to hit the ball higher. Most hitters will quickly/eventually figure it out on their own without being told how to swing.
