Although the vast majority of officer cadets have degrees, I'd like to know what it is that the exceptional few who go to RMAS at the age of 18/19/20 do before going there. Any advice on this (if university is definitely not an option) would be greatly appreciated.

Sep 23, 2023 · The intake consists of 262 Officer cadets, 221 British and 41 Internationals. Of the British cadets, 32 are female. The average age is 23 with the youngest 18 and the oldest 29. 57% were educated in State schools and 73% are university graduates. 5% of the course are soldier entrants, 43% were in a University Officer Training Corps and 55% in one of the cadet forces.
While it is called the Sandhurst Military Skills Competition after the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) in the United Kingdom, the annual competition has always been held at West Point. Sandhurst was started in 1967 when RMAS presented West Point with a British Officer's sword to use as the prize for a competition to promote military excellence.
