In this game they're using it for cloud saves. If you're not connected to the ubi servers then Valhalla will say your save file is corrupt because it can't verify it against the cloud save they have. The first game I noticed it with was Watch Dogs Legion.

Last damn Ubisoft game I'm buying. One day I can play fine, the next day it won't let me play/sign in to Ubisoft and tells me the account is not available and I need to "re associate" my account with original credentials (11 years ago). All the other Assassin's Creeds work fine without re-associating anything.

Unfortunately, yes. Sinval 1 year ago #6. EA is the same, on PC anyways.. you have to install their app and do an internet check to play their games. This is why I'll never buy another Ubisoft, EA, or Blizzard game. Dragon age origins is old enough to be free of that thank god..

When you finish your session with Ubisoft Connect, if you do happen to click 'Log out' then this will result in wiping the login details to allow next account to login unimpeded.
