The main reason we hate Sakura is, in my opinion, the comparative characters. We all like the characters with dark, cool backstories (think naruto or itachi) and we NEVER get that from Sakura. The closest thing we get with her is a dumb story about flowers.
I've heard people say that they hate Sakura because she obsessed over Sasuke in Naruto, but Naruto does it throughout Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, like it literally becomes his life's purpose and goal (besides becoming the hokage).
Sai shared his thought that Naruto wanted to save Sasuke mainly because Naruto loved Sakura, Sakura felt guilty about it because she thought her promise was the reason why Naruto wanted to save Sasuke, so she came up with that fake confession so that Naruto would no longer keep that promise.
