Sakura was absolutely written terribly and I do not like her as a character but I still defend her because a good portion of people's hatred for her is for incredibly superficial reasons. Like for not loving Naruto back, being flat chested, for her being "abusive" towards Naruto even though most of her punches on him are filler and not canon etc.
