It is thought to contradict Islamic teachings
- Teaching evolution is widely accepted in most Western countries, in spite of occasional opposition. Sadly, this is not the case in most Muslim countries, where it is banned from many schools and colleges because it is thought to contradict Islamic teachings. Saudi Arabia, Oman, Algeria and Morocco have banned the teaching of evolution completely.

An important point that needs to be kept in mind is that even when evolution is accepted (i.e. for non-humans), it is still understood as an act of God stemming from His will and power. Evolution as random mutation and natural selection causally independent of God is decisively rejected whether the theory is applied to humans or non-humans.

The theory of Evolution, or more precisely, Organic Evolution, is taught in our schools and colleges as an established fact and saturates our science; psychology, philosophy, history and, to some extent, even religion today.
Although non-human evolution is not so controversial and a great amount of Muslims accept it, still a notable portion of Muslims disbelieve in origin of species from a common ancestor by evolution.

Evolution has become one of the hottest buzzwords amongst Muslims and not necessarily in any positive sense. Indications suggest that the Muslim populous seem to be generally hostile and suspicious of evolution from an Islamic standpoint for various reasons.
