In Him, believers are rooted and built up and established in the faith (2:7). The word of Christ, the Bible, is God speaking to us about His Son, or God speaking to us through His Son.

- It protects against sin. Psalm 119:11 says, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You” (NKJV). The Word of God will keep you away from sin when you study it, meditate on it day and night, keep it in your heart, and allow it to control your thoughts and actions.
