Helga Hufflepuff
Of course, Helga Hufflepuff was the first of her house in Harry Potter, and her values would become the foundation for Hufflepuff students for the next several centuries. She was known to be gentle and kind and did not mind much where a person came from, as long as they were willing to learn. Helga's quote was repeated by the Sorting Hat, the only one "alive" during Harry's time who had personally known the Hogwarts founders. He explained how when Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw were arg...
Cedric Diggory
Cedric Diggory was Harry's competition in both the Triwizard Tournament and in romance, but he had a very difficult time disliking the charismatic older student. Even when Cedric was unsure whether or not Harry was lying about putting his name in the Goblet of Fire, he always treated him fairly. Cedric demonstrated this in the third task when he insisted that Harry take the Triwizard cup. He could have easily made a grab for it himself, but he knew that wouldn't have been right or fair. Harry...
Pomona Sprout
When the heads of house realized that the castle would be coming under siege from Voldemort's Death Eaters, Slughorn's mind went quickly to escape. However, Professor Sprout shared a knowing look with McGonagall and promptly told her that she would meet her in the Great Hall, ready to fight. While bravery is associated with Gryffindor, there is a certain kind of courage that comes with loyalty. Sprout knew that the right thing to do was stand and protect her friends. For a Hufflepuff, there c...
Hannah Abbott
Harry first met Hannah Abbott in Chamber of Secrets, as she was a friend of Justin Finch-Fletchley, the boy that had everyone believing that Harry was the heir of Slytherin. She was never the center of attention in the series, but she was a member of Dumbledore's Army and later married fan favorite Neville Longbottom. When everyone, especially the Hufflepuffs, believed that Harry was the one attacking Muggle-born wizards at Hogwarts, Hannah was the voice that stood up for him. She proved hers...
The Fat Friar
The Fat Friar was the Ghost of Hufflepuff and had been part of the house when he attended the school in life. The students knew him as jolly and good-natured, which is surprising considering his church executed him for suspicion of witchcraft (via Wizarding World). Harry had few interactions with the jovial ghost, but when he did, he heard him come to the defense of Peeve's the Poltergeist, who most everyone hated. Few in the castle could have found it in themselves to show forgiveness for Pe...
Nymphadora Tonks
Nymphadora Tonks was energetic, talkative, and clumsy. Harry described her as bordering on annoying, but he was very fond of her. For this reason, he was surprised to find in Half-Blood Princethat her demeanor had greatly changed. She was quiet, morose, and completely lacking the fiery personality everyone was used to. Of course, it turns out that this was because Remus Lupin had been avoiding a romantic relationship with her since he feared his status as a werewolf made him a bad match. Howe...
Theseus Scamander
The Fantastic Beasts series introduced the first lead Hufflepuff characters, much to the delight of fans who identify with that house. One of these was Theseus Scamander, who was introduced in Crimes of Grindelwaldas Newt's Auror brother. Theseus is represented as very different from his eccentric brother. He takes great pride in his Ministry job and can't understand why Newt would be so resistant to cooperating with the government. However, when it came down to it, he was still loyal to his...
Newt Scamander
Newt Scamander may be the most popular Hufflepuff, and he is perfectly representative of the house. While he certainly had the brains and passion for study like a Ravenclaw, his goal was never purely academic; he studied magical creatures because he wanted to help them. Newt may have changed significantly throughout the Fantastic Beasts series, but this one thing remained constant. Newt may have been better with beasts than people, but he still applied this same value for life to those around...

Changing your career? Read our pros and cons of becoming a school bus driver and see if this is the right career path for you.
Oct 27, 2021 · I've been a school bus driver for 28 years, and I've always liked my job because I feel every day I get the kids to school and back home safely, I've done a good thing.
- Henry Blodget
- THEY ASSIGN SEATS TO AVOID TROUBLE. As kids get older, their on-bus behavior can start to become a distraction. To help curb tiny trouble, drivers can plan seat assignments that offer a better chance of cooperation.
- THEY MIGHT TAKE IN A MOVIE DURING THE DAY. School bus drivers usually have a staggered schedule, driving kids in different grades throughout the morning and then doing it in reverse later in the day.
- PARENTS CAN BE A BIGGER PROBLEM THAN THE KIDS. It’s not always the kids that misbehave. “I think it would surprise people how often parents tell their children they don't have to obey a driver,” Cindy says.
- THERE’S A BENEFIT TO DRIVER SENIORITY. Drivers who have been in the hot seat long enough to earn seniority can earn more money, but there are other perks.
I don’t think a lot of school bus drivers make full time. But yes it’s very easy. The hardest part is the passengers but if you’ve got a cool head it’s a good gig, potentially career.
