May 7, 2024 · Why, though, is Mary called “the Mother of God”? It is because she is the mother of the Word Incarnate who is divine. Numerous Scriptures identify Mary as the mother of Jesus (Jn 2:1; Mt 1:18, 2:11, 12:46). Since Jesus is God (Jn 1:1), Mary must be recognized as the one who bore God in her womb.
Mary serves as a link between the two Covenants not just through parallel or prophetic verses but by embodying common themes. She is a bridge between the Old and the New Testaments because Scripture shows her representing both the people of Israel and the Church begun by her Son.
Mary was a sinner herself in need of her “Savior” (Luke 1:47) and therefore neither did nor was qualified to pay the death penalty for others' sins. But won't Jesus listen to His own mother if she petitions for us in heaven? On earth, Jesus was Mary's son, as well as her “Savior.”

Nov 13, 2023 · Why Did God Choose Mary as the Mother of Jesus? God chose Mary to care for and teach Jesus, the Savior of the World. Yes, her heart would break, as all mothers do, but she also knew the joy of being an instrumental part of God’s redemptive plan for all humanity.
That Mary is filled with the presence of God. And if she is entirely inhabited by God, there is no room within her for sin. It is an extraordinary thing, because everything in the world, regrettably, is contaminated by evil.
