Learn what to do if you can’t send or receive messages or you see an alert when you send a message with Messages on your Mac.
After trying each step below, try to send a message again.
•Restart your Mac. Choose Apple menu > Restart, then click Restart.
•Make sure that your software is up to date. Learn how to update the software on your Mac.
•Make sure that your Mac is connected to the Internet. To check your Internet connection, try loading a page in Safari or another web browser.
•Check that the date and time is set correctly on your Mac.
•Make sure that you enter the correct phone number or email address for the contact.
If you try to send a message and see an alert that the person isn’t registered with iMessage, the message is trying to send using SMS/MMS. Make sure Text Message Forwarding is set up and your iPhone is powered on.

Oct 25, 2020 · Sign out of iMessages from your Mac. Open Messages app Preferences iMessage Tab : Sign out and then Sign in with the same Apple ID as your iPone Apple ID. Do the same on your iPad as above. On your iPhone, open Settings Messages Text Message Forwarding: Here make sure that your Mac and your iPad are showing and that both switches are set to ON.

Aug 1, 2024 · To re-enable Messages on Mac: Open iMessage on your Mac. Click Messages in the top menu bar and choose Settings. Switch to the iMessage tab. Uncheck Enable Messages in iCloud. Choose between Disable This Device or Disable All. Select the checkbox back again. Make sure to disable and re-enable iMessage quickly.
