Damn. This happens the most when laptops take vibrations. I've had a 08 HP (terrible time to own a HP laptop). A ibook g3 and now a x1 Carbon 2nd edition with the issue. So if you bring it in your car simply opening up the screen would stop scratching while driving as long as it doesn't go flying during sudden stops or crashing.
