Sep 15, 2020 · So I began an experiment to use Opera as my primary browser — and began to install those same extensions I was using with Chrome now with Opera. Some things can be illusory and my initial impressions were that the same overall workload of running Opera + all those extensions was better/faster/ no lag vs the same running Chrome.
Opera has been aware of the new web store for quite a while now and has been working behind the scenes to make it work correctly in Opera (without download errors and without crashing). In regular Opera 103.0.4928.16 for example, the new web store should work fine in most cases. Some of the fixes probably aren't in Opera GX yet. Probably, Thanks.
I just updated Opera One to version 103.0.4928.16 and tried to install a Chrome extension. It worked this time. Something I noticed on the extension page was that the "Add to Chrome" installation button changed to "Add to Opera". I don't recall that being the case before I updated the browser so it might have been a problematic version of Opera ...
Oct 27, 2021 · To reiterate: Download Opera’s Install Chrome Extensions addon. Go to the Google Chrome Web Store and choose a Chrome extension, like Grammarly. Click the Add to Opera button. Click the Install button in the Extensions Manager (cube icon in your Opera sidebar). Voila! Enjoy extensions for Chrome in Opera.

Oct 22, 2016 · Outside of adjusting a particular extension's settings, there isn't really a way to reduce their impact. Chrome splits individual tabs and other tasks into separate processes. This is why you see so many entries. Chrome doesn't necessarily use more or less memory or processing power than Firefox because of this.
