  1. The Empyrean is tuned for hours upon hour of listening enjoyment independent of the genre or quality of the music you listen to. It’s warm, smooth and laid back, but with plenty sparkle and air up top. Overall it’s a well-balanced, neutral sound signature.

  2. The Empyrean is FAR from unrivaled in the clarity and detail department. That is actually considered their weakest point from my understanding (having never listened to them). As blue said, there are other headphones such as the HD 800/S that win out in this category at a much lower retail price.

  3. I finally got to demo the Empyreans and Elites today (HIFIbuys Atlanta) along with a few other kilobuck and TOTL headphones such as the lcdx, Arya, and Focal Stellia - and after trying them out for around an hour or so, I’m kind of underwhelmed.

  4. Nov 28, 2022 · It sounds like you're leaning towards the Empyrean, which is a fine headphone. I did a side by side with the Elite and landed on that one because the low end is better controlled. But the Empyrean is still a fun headphone that excels in a lot of areas.

  5. Apr 7, 2019 · The Meze Empyrean is the most comfortable set of headphones I’ve tried so far (at least in this multi-kilobuck range). It has the ability to almost feel as light as a pair of Bose QC’s, and I was able to wear them for many hours on end without any discomfort at the top of my head or on my temple.
