The Empyrean is tuned for hours upon hour of listening enjoyment independent of the genre or quality of the music you listen to. It’s warm, smooth and laid back, but with plenty sparkle and air up top. Overall it’s a well-balanced, neutral sound signature.
They are clearer, have a slightly larger soundstage, and if not quite a bit more bass, much better defined bass. I can see how some people have said the empyreans are "bloomy" at the low end, but I actually love this. You can easily EQ that out if you like as they respond very well to Eq'ing.
