DAC/Amp: SDAC-B & THX AAA 789. Overall sound signature. The Empyrean is tuned for hours upon hour of listening enjoyment independent of the genre or quality of the music you listen to. It’s warm, smooth and laid back, but with plenty sparkle and air up top. Overall it’s a well-balanced, neutral sound signature.
Credit where credit is due, the empyreans are the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever worn, and were easily the best built out of all the headphones they had on display. Going up their line, The Elites do step it up, and in terms of technical performance, and they were noticeably better than my Elex being about on par with the 2021 lcdx that I heard, and a tad behind the Arya.
After playing with it a bit, the Empyrean Elite is good it's just very different than the original. I think this is a more "audiophile tuned" headphone for people who didn't like the original Empyrean. So far I've tried it on the following amps: GS-X Mini Garage1217 Project Ember DIY Noire with custom PSU and Silmic caps

Nov 8, 2023 · New is the mention of “II” on the headband. Where the original Empyrean had a glossy yoke and ear cup finish, the Empyrean 2 this time round has a matte black finish. The vertical rod on the head band is now in shiny black and it has a grey accent on top. The side plate on the yoke now is silver and it’s showing the Meze Audio logo.
