Headphones in this price range are almost all good it's just a matter of personal preference. For someone looking for a fun and not so analytical headphone the empyrean is perfect. I really enjoyed them. People who are looking for a neutral presentation won't be satisfied. They impart coloration kind of like a tube amp.

DAC/Amp: SDAC-B & THX AAA 789. Overall sound signature. The Empyrean is tuned for hours upon hour of listening enjoyment independent of the genre or quality of the music you listen to. It’s warm, smooth and laid back, but with plenty sparkle and air up top. Overall it’s a well-balanced, neutral sound signature.
Why are you considering the Empyrean on particular? Generally when people are looking at super expensive headphones like that they are looking for improvements in specific areas like soundstage or bass extension. If you’re expecting a massive improvement in every category from the 6XX I’d be really really hesitant.
Nov 8, 2023 · New is the mention of “II” on the headband. Where the original Empyrean had a glossy yoke and ear cup finish, the Empyrean 2 this time round has a matte black finish. The vertical rod on the head band is now in shiny black and it has a grey accent on top. The side plate on the yoke now is silver and it’s showing the Meze Audio logo.
