May 24, 2023 · Fort Casey on Whidbey Island was one of the forts. Also Fort Worden at Port Townsend, and Fort Flagler on Marrowstone Island across Port Townsend Bay. Those three parks were once the keystones of the Triangle of Fire, designed to prevent a battle fleet from steaming into Puget Sound to bombard Seattle and the Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.

Oct 30, 2022 · In the summer of 1851, William Wallace and his wife, Rufinda, were first to claim on Crescent Harbor. Their daughter, Paulowna, was the first white child born on Whidbey. In 1855 the Wallaces started the island's first formal school, and William is credited with shipping over its first horse.

Isaac Ebey, son of Jacob & Sarah Ebey, and his close friend, Samuel Crockett, made their way across the country and eventually to Whidbey Island.
