Feb 12, 2024 · The most important reason for God’s people to attend church is that the church is God’s idea, “I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). Plus, the church is how God is accomplishing His work on earth today.

Aug 26, 2021 · We belong to them and they belong to us—and we need each other. The Bible says, “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24). Ask God to lead you to a church where Christ is preached and taught, and where people are seeking to live for Him.
- Because you need the regular support and encouragement of Christian fellowship. The Christian life is not designed to be lived in isolation, and those who try it that way are likely to crash!
- Because fellowship provided by Christian friends is no substitute for belonging to a church. You choose your friends because their ideas and style are similar to your own, God puts different people in a congregation so they can learn from each other.
- Because gifts can only rightly be used by someone who is a member of a congregation. Gifts are primarily for the congregation, not for the individual and are rightly used to build up the church.
- Because God’s basic unit is the church, not the individual. The story of the Bible is that of God making, shaping and refining his people, beginning with Abraham.

- To Hear the Preaching of the Word. If the word of God is quick, powerful, and sharper than a sword (Hebrews 4:12), then hearing the preaching of Scripture is vital to your spiritual well-being.
- To Participate in Corporate Worship. Worshiping God alone is wonderful, but nothing can replace the beauty of coming together corporately to worship Him with others who also have His Spirit in them through the redeeming work of salvation.
- Because Iron Sharpens Iron. That is what Proverbs 27:17 tells us. Meeting regularly with other believers is a source of encouragement and strength. But know this: when iron rubs against iron, not only does it become sharper, it also causes sparks!
- To Exercise Your Gift. From preaching to encouraging, hospitality to administration, God equips His children with gifts to serve Christ. (See 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12:6).
- Jesus Christ died for the church. Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
- We must be imitators of Christ and His apostles. Luke 4:16 “He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom.
- You learn and better understand Scripture. It increases your growth on your walk of faith. Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
- There is more guidance. Proverbs 11:14 “Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.” Proverbs 24:6 “for by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory.”
