Mar 28, 2017 · Bad cats seem a common problem with the Matrix / Vibe. I am inclined to think that the ECU is late in flagging the front O2 sensor as bad which is causing premature aging of the cat. IMO we should replace the front sensor before 100K and keep it for use as a rear sensor.

Even though you might have some time period where the data remains with the voltage specs, you will start to have CELs thrown when the units report back numbers outside ECU-acceptable ranges, and it can happen at any time.
